A software defect at Telstra caused a 12-hour outage starting at 0430 AEST, blocking some Triple Zero emergency calls and halting V/Line train services in Victoria. The carrier ruled out a cyberattack. Payment systems for 80,000 businesses using Tyro EFTPOS terminals were also affected. The Australian Communications and Media Authority will investigate.
