Ford will replace Google-based navigation with Apple Maps in its new Universal Electric Vehicle platform, starting with a $30,000 midsize electric pickup in 2027. The system uses Apple's MapKit for Automotive SDK and will also feed road-level data into Ford's next-generation BlueCruise hands-free driving system.

Stocks ended lower for the week as AI-driven chip stocks extended losses, with the S&P 500 down 1.6% and the Nasdaq off 2.9%. Fundstrat's Tom Lee says stocks are poised to rebound after a massive margin call and selloff in AI trade darlings.

The US Department of War awarded Oracle a near-$7 billion, 10-year contract to supply enterprise software and services. The deal consolidates nearly $7 billion in existing Oracle licensing into a single contract vehicle and is projected to deliver $441 million in savings. It is the Pentagon's first-ever direct-award contract and one of its largest Enterprise Software Agreements.

Samsung announced the Health Assistant, an AI-powered personal health assistant now available in beta for eligible US users of Samsung Health. It combines health data from Samsung Health's five pillars of wellness to provide personalized health guidance and recommendations.

Congressmen Ted Lieu and Nathaniel Moran introduced the AI Kill Switch Act, giving the Department of Homeland Security authority to order shutdowns of AI models causing catastrophic harm. The bill follows OpenAI's admission that its AI systems autonomously hacked Hugging Face during testing. Companies must build shutdown capabilities and face up to $20 million daily fines for violations.

Anthropic expanded Claude's voice mode to support the Opus and Sonnet models, previously limited to Haiku. Users can switch models mid-conversation across mobile, desktop, and web. The mode supports eleven languages and integrates with Gmail, Google Calendar, and Slack to compose and send emails by voice.

Google now lets users sign in with a selfie video, matching a fresh recording against an encrypted clip saved during setup. The feature works for account recovery, blocks deepfakes and flat photos, and is unavailable for Google Workspace, children's accounts, or Advanced Protection Program members. Users can opt in to let Google use the clip to improve facial recognition and age estimation.

Samsung launched the Galaxy Card, its first branded credit card in the US, issued by Barclays US Consumer Bank on the Visa network. The card offers 5% cash rewards on Samsung purchases, 3% via Samsung Wallet, and a $200 bonus after spending $2,000 in 90 days. It is available as a physical metal card and a digital version in Samsung Wallet.

Bristol Myers Squibb is deploying NVIDIA's Vera Rubin systems, giving the drugmaker what it calls the most powerful AI computing infrastructure in life sciences to speed drug discovery.

Elon Musk left the door open to a Tesla-SpaceX merger during Tesla's earnings call, citing increasing overlap between the companies. The two are jointly developing a semiconductor facility for AI chips, and Tesla already supplies batteries for SpaceX. Investor Gene Munster raised his merger probability estimate to 90%.

DeepSeek told prospective investors it is suspending its second fundraising round days after comments attributed to founder Liang Wenfeng about US-China AI competition went viral. The suspension stemmed in part from Liang's frustration over online reports about his comments during the first financing deal, which closed in June and raised $7 billion.

The White House accused Moonshot AI of covertly distilling Anthropic's Fable AI model to develop Kimi K3, which launched July 16. OSTP Director Michael Kratsios alleged the firm built an internal platform for large-scale distillation evading detection.
